President Trump was elected president in November 2016. President Trump nominated Congressman Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services, who was the Congressman for the 6th Congressional District.

The election will be decided in June in the run-off between R- Karen Handel and D- Jon Ossoff. The 6th district historically has voted for Republicans and notable elections that have been won include Senator Johnny Isackson and Former Speaker of the house and Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
During the primary the Democrat party rallied behind the young Jon Ossoff. Jon Ossoff had the backing from his former boss, Congressman Hank Johnson, and the lion's share of sitting congressional democrats. The support included "megadonor" fund raisers in DC and CA. Congressman Johnson, Congressman Lewis, and a host of other Democrats worked tirelessly to promote one democrat in the special election. In contrast, Republicans did not promote one candidate over the other giving them each an equal opportunity to win.
In fact, the democrats were so desperate they presented a unified message, "we must flip this seat and stop Trump" that went out across the nation. The candidate raised millions of dollars and flooded the airwaves with ads. This from a young candidate, with no expereince other than years as a staffer and does not live in the district. Ossoff indicated his live-in girlfriend was the reason he has not moved back so that she can walk to her studies at Emory University.
Millions of dollars and the DNC was not enough to flip the seat. The numbers, nearly 50% of the vote for the leading democrat, sent shock waves through the loyal republicans. The Republicans have now rallied and unified behind Karen Handel.
Now that you have caught up to the 6th District Congressional race, more to the point of this article.
In spite of the attempt to buy the seat, and quite a divided Republican field, Georgia voters in the 6th Congressional district will still face a run-off in June. Congressman Johnson, and a host of other congressman, tried to influence the electorate with official resources and in a typical fashion, violated ethics by using taxpayer funded resources to promote and campaign for the candidate.
It was discovered that Congressman Johnson also used his congressional website to further promote Jon Ossoff, a direct ethics violation. The post has since been removed, after "getting caught", but NNN sources maintained a screen shot for your validation.
The advocacy group, FACT, Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, indicated to the AJC on Monday it will seek to file a complaint with the OCE (Office of Congressional Ethics) stating "Representative Johnson has simply disregarded the rule and is blatantly using his official website for partisan purposes and campaign related activity," FACT's Matthew Whitaker wrote to congressional investigators. "Not only is it troubling that Johnson has breached a basic rule that ensures the public’s confidence that our House Members are working for the citizens and not for their own personal political gain, but he has misused taxpayer funded resources."
Dedication to the party and former staffers is commendable, Congressman Johnson once more has crossed the line- the line of what is right and what is wrong. It is up to you and I as responsible citizens of this great nation to hold public officials accountable, both in their daily actions, and at the ballot. This is the same congressman that was concerned about Guam tipping over if too many American's were relocated there, concerns about helium shortages due to sequestration, and his pride and joy; correct calling of "little people". We have studied the US Constitution and have yet to determine where these issues fall into the job he is elected to do, but are reminded that Democrats have a different set of rules and standards that are acceptable by way of holding a Democrat party card.
While this violation may not seem major, elected officials are held to, or should be, the highest standard in ethics, honestly, and ultimately in integrity. Rules are designed to be followed and have a specific purpose. When a congressman fails to abide by ethics, laws, or rules, it is the duty of the American citizen to hold them accountable. More on this story as it develops including the Democrat attempt to change voting rules, a similar set of rules they protested against, ahead of the run-off. Story to follow soon.
Reporter's Opinion Democrats most often tend to push the boundaries and for nearly a decade have been given a pass to do so without hiding it. The election of President Trump on the platform of "drain the swap" has sent a message that the American people are tired of the nonsense, from both sides. It is time that we as citizens rise up and hold our officials accountable, bring to light actions that have recently been in the dark, and help to share the message. What is right should be applauded and what is wrong should be met with consequences.
